Aims to educate young minds on aspects of energy saving

Aiming to promote the motto 'Conservation means the wise use of the earth and its resources for the lasting good of men,' Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF), in association with NGO School Health Annual Report Programme (SHARP) brought forth the conserve my planet programme recently at the Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao.

The 6 month programme, which commenced from July this year has been deployed in 10 cities of India - New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, Pune, Chandigarh, and Vadodara. This project has covered 5 sessions on energy conservation in 8 schools of Goa reaching 700 students and likewise many more nationally.

'The Green Championship 2015' held on December 11, hosted by Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao was a culminating event where participants from each of the 8 schools were competing, presenting a working model on energy conservation methods.

The winners of the championship were Tanusha Paraz (Jnyan Vikas School), Abhishek Choukse (KVS, Ponda), Aditya A M (KVS, Vasco 1), Vaibhav Prabhudesai (Vidya Vikas Academy), Ayesha Katri (Cresent School), Palash Naik (Bloomz International), Joseph Alison Domnic (Busy Bee English School) and Pooja Kothari (Airway Public School)

The award for best practices went to Jnyan Vikas School, Porvorim and Cresent School, Margao.

Senior CSR team from Schneider Electric inaugurated the event. Team members of SHARP organised the event. Students, teachers and the school were awarded various trophies and certificates as a motivation to continue best energy conservation practices.

The programme aims to educate the young minds about energy saving, energy efficiency, green energy, recyclable sources and renewable sources of energy. It not only teaches the students about efficient energy management but also gives hands-on experience for children to learn and adopt energy efficient ways of working.

The main objective of organizing such education based activity programme is to create a healthy school environment by saving and conserving energy at home and at school. This programme has been started by a global specialist in US and now it has been initiated in India to create a healthy power saving environment. This programme is a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative of Schneider Electric India Foundation.
