Members of the Citizens of Goa (CoG), convinced that Bismarque Dias’s death was not a simple case of drowning, have pointed to the statements of five youth who had seen Dias and the two boys at 8.30 pm and again later at 11.40 pm on the night of November 5, 2015.
Speaking to media persons, Kennedy Afonso said five youth who were on an outing on the evening of November 5, said they saw Dias with the two boys sitting at a place called Uddear. As the youth were headed back home at 11.40 pm, they saw the priest turned activist again at the same location.
“If this is so, it raises a million dollar question as to how Fr Bismarque could have been at Babbalmannos at the same time? According to Darren and Ganesh (the two boys with Dias) they had left Uddear at 9.15 pm to buy beer at Suresh bar and from there proceeded to Cuppamannos and were seen there by four people at around 10.10 pm. So how come five people testified that the two boys were seen at 11.40 pm at Uddear? Someone is lying,” said Afonso.
Banking on the testimony of the five youth, the CoG have demanded that the Crime Branch record their statements in the presence of the family advocate. They have also asked for the Global Positioning System (GPS) location on Dias’s mobile to be recovered to enable to pin point his exact location at 11.40 pm.
“We have been extremely disappointed with the investigation the police have currently undertaken. This isn’t a drowning but a case of murder with reports contradicting themselves,” said CoG member Swati Kerkar.
Speaking about the pending lie detector test, another member of the NGO, Prakash Bandodkar said that they were sure that too would be inconclusive.
