Candolim Sports Club struggled before registering a 3-2 win over ABC, Arambol in the Goa Football Association's (GFA) Third Division League match (Bardez Zone) at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday. At half time the score was 1-1 with both teams struggling to hold the other.
With this win, Candolim SC have qualified for the semi-finals of the play-off against AA de Moira to be played on December 14 at the same venue.
After several missed opportunities from both the sides Carl D’Souza managed to put Candolim SC ahead with a clever chip that hit the upright and found the nets in the 20th minute.
ABC, Arambol tried hard to level terms and in the 38th minute equalised through Omkar Satelkar who was put through by Dietmar Fernandes.
Soon, Carl D’Souza missed a good opportunity to put Candolim SC ahead. Thereafter, marshal pulled off a superlative save for Candolim SC off Omkar Satelkar.
Crossing over, ABC Arambol continued from where they had left and further increased the lead in the 50th minute when Omkar Satelkar scored his brace to put his side 2-1 ahead.
In the 56th minute of play, Gauresh Shirodkar equalised for Candolim off a goalmouth melee. In the 75th minute, substitute player Nikhil Naik put Candolim SC 3-2 finishing a minus by Joeliff Simoes. The full time score was 3-2 in favour of Candolim Sports Club.
