Five-time champions Dempo Sports Club will look for redemption when they take on bottom placed PIFA Sports Club, Colaba- Mumbai in their last round match of Western Conference Second Division I League at Thane in Mumbai at 3.30 pm on Sunday.

After succumbing to

Lonestar Kashmir FC in the previous away match 0-1, Dempo Sports Club’s preparation were far from ideal as their players were busy in the ISL and head coach Mauricio Afonso didn’t have the privilege to field the team of his choice for the tournament. For Afonso who is an astute reader of the game, took over the coaching mantle when the then head coach Armando Colaco had fallen ill in the 2011-2012 season and the responsibilty was shouldered by Afonso. The result was a string of success that put Dempo on the road to the championship title which they eventually won. “The boys know what to expect when you play and I have told the boys to put the previous defeat behind them and start afresh. You must be positive,” Afonso added. He further said a win or loss in the league does not matter as the team has already qualified for the final phase. “We play to win and would like to finish on a winning note,” said Afonso. The Dempo coach said he did not have the services of defender Ali and midfielder Jewel Raja.
