The 22nd edition of Classical Dance Festival jointly organized by Kala Academy Goa and West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur will be held form January 15 to 17, daily at 7 pm in the precincts of Mahalasa Devasthan, Mardol, with the participation of national and international repute artists in the field of classical dance.

The festival will be inaugurated on January 15, at 7 pm by Pandurang Dhavalikar, Minister for Factories and Boilers. Vishnu Surya Wagh, Chairman of Kala Academy and Vinod Kamat, president of Shree Mahalasa Saunsthan will be present.

The dance festival is open to all. The festival is considered amongst top ten classical dance festival’s of India.

After the inaugural function, students of the faculty of Indian Music & Dance of Kala Academy along with their teacher Sapna Naik will present Bharatanatyam recital in group choreography. This will be followed by Kuchipudi dance recital by Yamini Reddy (Hyderabad). The programme will conclude with Kathak dance recital by Pt Rajendra Gangani.

On January 16, Dr Janaki Rangaraja (Chennai) will present Bharatanatyam, followed by Kathak dance in group choreography by artists of Nad-Roop, Pune.

On January 17, Sarita Mishra (Bengaluru) will present Odissi solo dance recital. The festival will conclude with Bharatanatyam duet by Shijit Nambiar and Parvathy Menon (Chennai). Doordarshan will record the performances and telecast the same on their channel. Kala Academy has also invited Leela Venkatraman, dance critic to attend this festival and write a review in national level daily and also in ‘Narthaki’- nationally acclaimed newsletter devoted to classical dances.

A bus will leave daily at 6 pm on festival dates from opposite Kala Academy and will return after the performances.
