Kunda is SMC dy chief
BICHOLIM: Kunda Madkar was unanimously elected deputy chairperson of Sakhali Municipal Council (SMC).
The post had fallen vacant after former deputy chairperson Vibha Desai resigned from the post as per a verbal agreement between the councillors.
The election meeting was attended by SMC Chairperson Dharmesh Saglani and councillors Kunda Madkar, Vibha Desai, Rashmi Desai, Milind Relekar, Damodar Ghadi and Riyaz Khan in the 11-member council.
Kunda's candidature was proposed by Riyaz Khan. Since there was only one nomination, Bicholim Mamlatdar Gurudas Desai, the presiding officer, declared Madkar elected unopposed as deputy chairperson. Chief Officer Shripad Arlekar was also present for the meeting.
Madkar is the third deputy chairperson of SMC elected to the post, after Damodar Ghadi and Vibha Desai Kunda.
