PARSEKAR'S

1-YR IN OFFICE

---------

It is said that one day is a long time in politics. Laxmikant Parsekar completes one year as Chief Minister of the State today and he is confident of taking on the opposition in a showdown in 2017. And to give the BJP a wining start in the next Assembly elections, Parsekar will focus on creating well-paying jobs for the youth, build infrastructure projects, tighten revenue collection and continue to engage with the minority community. In an interview with 'The Goan Everyday' he said he would try to grow the tourism industry in order to expand the tax base.

On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane is not impressed with the performance of the government. He emphasised that promises had been made but not fulfilled. The former chief minister was also critical on the government's anti-corruption drive and emphasised that agriculture was being neglected.
