Antonio Pereir Konknni awards announced
Award will be conferred on January 23

Five Konkani writers will receive awards at the annual award ceremony of the Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr (TSKK), Porvorim on January 23, at 5.30 pm.
According to TSKK director Fr Apolinario Cardoso, noted poet and Goa Konkani Akademi president Madhav Borcar will be the chief guest at the Antonio Pereir Konknni Puroskar ceremony.
The Antonio Pereira Konknni Puroskar-2016 will be conferred on Fr Manuel Pascual Gomes, an expert in Konknni language and one of the major contributors in the preparation of Konknni Lectionary.
Fr Gomes has written, edited and translated more than a dozen books. His greatest contribution was the long-awaited Bible in Roman script, 'Povitr Pustok' in 2006.
The Jack Sequeira Konknni Puroskar-2015, instituted by Fr Conceicao Silva in 2010, will be conferred on Pio Esteves of Agasaim. He has written articles for Vavraddeancho Ixtt, Dor Mhoineachi Rotti, Amcho Avaz, Gulab, ‘Novo Somaz. Till date he has published a number of books such as Kupam, Pakham, Ambott-tik, Salkam, Kaddyo-Boddyo, etc.
The Maria Afonso Konknni Puroskar 2015, instituted by Fr Ave Maria Afonso, will be conferred on Fr Alfred Vaz. He has written articles for magazines and newspapers, including books under his leadership such as Ho Amcho Bhavart, Kristi Bhavartacho Chorav, Bhavartacho Fonddaro, Bhavartachi Machi, etc.
The Valeiro Carvalho Konknni Puroskar 2015, instituted by Roque Carvalho, will be conferred on Jasmine Rodrigues E Estebeiro of Nuvem. She writes regularly to Konknni magazines such as Amcho Avaz, Amchem Goem, Jivitacho Prokas, etc. She has also written a number of books, such as Kotha Sugand, Kovita, Mhaka Mog Zai, etc.
The Konknni Martir Floriano Vaz Puroskar 2015 will be conferred on Manuel Fernandes. He has written articles for magazines such as Gulab and Amcho Avaz. He has also written Konknni plays and later on novels. His book 'Suring Pettoilem' published last year was selected for the above Puroskar.
