With quite a few music groups giving in to the public demand for a musical reunion, here's one that reunion that not many saw coming. Aqua, the band which went viral with their track Barbie Girl, a song that almost everyone knows today is all set to get back together for the 20th anniversary of the track with a tour of their homelannd -Denmark.

The Eurodance group consisting of Lene Nystrøm, René Dif,Søren Rasted, and Claus Norreen , originally formed back in 1989 under the name Joyspeed. They renamed themselves in 1996 and got the name Aqua off a poster. They then went on sign a new record with Universal in Denmark, but it was with 1997's breakthrough single "Barbie Girl" and the follow-up album Aquarium that Aqua became an international sensation and - to date - the most successful Danish band ever, selling 33 million albums and singles. Barbie Girl went on to top the charts in the UK and Australia and made the top 10 in the United States. Barbie producer Mattel wasn't happy with the sexual undertones of the song though, and attempted to sue, but it was unsuccessful.

Their next major hit was 'Doctor Jones', based off the Indiana Jones films. 'Turn Back Time' was Aqua's third number one in a row, and appeared on the soundtrack for hit romcom Sliding Doors, starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

Their first album, Aquarium, did massive numbers but sadly for them, follow-up Aquarius didn't achieve the same success. 'Cartoon Heroes' was a UK top 10 hit but the group said at the time: "We have looked each other straight in the eye and reached the conclusion that, for the moment, the spark is missing."

Lead singer Lene Nystrøm went on to write and record with Xenomania, famous for its incredible work with Girls Aloud. Lene was a co-writer on 'No Good Advice', which was a UK number two hit. She also co-wrote 'You Freak Me Out' for the Girls' first album, and her own songs 'Here We Go' and 'We Wanna Party' were covered by Cheryl and co further down the line. 'Here We Go' also became the theme tune to the animated hit Totally Spies!.

This isn't the first time Aqua have reunited: in 2008 they came together for a tour. The tour will follow a reunion already formed back in 2007, to mark the 10-year anniversary of 'Barbie Girl''s release which was followed by a greatest hits album in 2009. In 2011, the group released a third album called Megalomania. It did well in Denmark and was led by the single 'Like a Robot'. The album also contains tracks with the titles 'Kill Myself' and 'If the World Didn't Suck (We Would All Fall Off)'.
