Saying that he will take the Goa Forward Party to the nook and corner of the state, Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai said the Congress leadership will be sadly mistaken if the party feels that it can tie him down in Fatorda by reconstituting the Fatorda Congress Committee.
Reacting to AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar’s statement that Fatorda has not seen any development in the past few years, Sardesai said that the statement was an insult to the 30,000 Fatordekars who gave his Fatorda Forward panel a thumping 11-0 mandate in the recently-concluded Margao Municipal Council elections three months ago. Sardesai explained that this is yet another example of disconnect of the so-called High Command of AICC secretary with the ground reality in Goa.
“How can the AICC secretary say that promises in my election manifesto have not been fulfilled? This only goes to show that there is no connect between the AICC secretary and the people. Congress leaders have a habit of cooking up fiction to hide facts,” he said, adding that he has ushered in the development of Fatorda by consent.
Meanwhile, Sardesai inaugurated the commencement of road widening work from Arlem to Bolepand in Fatorda constituency at a cost of Rs 5 crore near ND Naik Garage, in Fatorda.
“Fatorda has witnessed immense road infrastructure development in the last four years, with this being the yet another major road to be widened after the Agalli to Bolepand road that was widened last year, and almost all internal roads have been hot-mixed in the last 4 years,” Sardesai said.
Also present at the inauguration was MMC Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudesai, MMC councillors Clara Fernandes, Lyndon Pereira, Terrence Barbosa, Peter Fernandes, Florence Tito Cardozo, Puja Naik, Glenn Andrade and Angelis Pereira, ex-councillor Jhonny Crasto, and other prominent citizens from Fatorda.
