An entrepreneur of Goan origin has decided to stand at the upcoming West Kelowna City Council elections in British Columbia, Canada, on October 15.
Tasha Da Silva is current president of the Glenrosa Resident Association and also founder and CEO of Infuse IT Inc, which focuses on point-of-sale services for retail and restaurants.
According to a report in the Castanet, a leading media website in Western Canada, Da Silva told the media that she is a “strong advocate of collaborating with our business community to create new opportunities for growth.”
“The economic health within our city directly affects the trajectory of economic growth within our community,” said Da Silva, while highlighting the housing affordability crisis as something all levels of government need to address.
“Development, however, must be balanced with protecting the natural beauty of the city and environmental sustainability,” Da Silva was quoted in the Castanet report.
Details on Da Silva’s candidate website state that she was born and raised in Richmond, BC along the docks of Historical Steveston Village.
“My parents, Anne and Joe, had immigrated to Canada as refugees in the early 1970s, escaping the Idi Amin Regime of Uganda in East Africa. Learning by example, my parents always taught me the importance of being in service to the community.”
“So, I have always sought out opportunities to contribute; from being a blood donor, to SPCA foster, to various community boards, and fundraising campaigns. I am eager to lend my talents and time for the betterment of my community.”
“I was able to build a thriving business with the assistance of local business support systems. I will be an advocate with all levels of government to ensure that all our residents have safe and secure housing,” stated Da Silva on her candidate website.
