GHS Morpirla Headmistress Maria Murena Miranda having 34 years of teaching experience to her credit will receive the National Award to Teachers from President Draupadi Murmu on September 5 in Delhi. GHS Morpirla caters to 100 percent tribal students and Miranda has introduced several innovative ideas in teaching including remote learning, art integrated learning, peer-to-peer learning. During Covid times she took classes in abus, temple and visited houses of students to take classes. These efforts have helped her achieve 100 percent results in SSC for seven times. Miranda had also introduced a mobile library for her students. Other initiatives include the developing of low cost teaching aids to make learning interesting to students, with many of her students achieving great success in their respective fields. One of her students attended the Sakura Science program in Japan and another student won the first prize for a national-level ozone poster making competition. Miranda had won the state best teachers award in 2020 for her work to break the barriers between students and teachers. After undergoing Nishtha training at NCERT in Delhi, Miranda has trained nearly 700 teachers in the state.
