St. Michael Church, Taleigao, in collaboration with the Auxilium Convent, Caranzalem celebrated Women's day on March 12 at the St Michael Parish Community hall. The programme began with a short prayer by the parish priest Fr Cipriano da Silva. A talk on "Feminism: Internalized Patriarchy and Community Empowerment" was delivered by Nikita Luis, a TYBA English-honour student of Dhempe College of Arts & Science. She asserted that women must have a positive attitude towards other women and diverge from negative thinking. She added that good, constructive, and uplifting ideas, words, and actions on the part of women are a step in the direction of their empowerment. Later, Sonia Figueredo spoke on the topic "Me Time," where she highlighted how important it is for every woman to dedicate time for themselves.
Chef Raymond Fernandes gave instructions on baking cakes. A Konkani skit "Zobbabdar Konn?" written and directed by Luiza Luis on the girl child was presented. Dances and games were organized by alumni and students of Auxilium School. Srs Melissa D' Souza, Celina and Jovita coordinated the programme.
