Rajtilak Naik wins GPU medal   in photojournalism

The Goa Legislative Assembly congratulated photojournalist and President, Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), Rajtilak Naik for winning the prestigious International GPU (Global Photographic Union) medal in photojournalism at the 64th PSSL (Photographic Society of Sri Lanka) Annual International Competition and Exhibition of Photography 2019-2020, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The congratulatory motion was moved by the Aldona MLA, Glenn Ticlo and passed unanimously by the August House on the last day of the Goa Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session on Friday.

The competition was organized by the Photographic Society of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Global Photographic Union (GPU), Netherland, Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the International Federation of Photographic Art, Greece. Around 4500 participants from more than 50 countries participated in the competition. The prize-winning entry was a photograph of ‘Secular India’ where a Muslim woman returns home with her son dressed in the attire of Lord Krishna soon after attending a Dahi handi breaking competition (a popular Hindu festival) in the latter's school, on Krishna Janmashthami festival in Panaji. The Photograph shoots a very strong message of communal harmony and national unity across religions in the country.
