Tribal Research Centre Goa in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture will be organising Adivasi Sahitya Sammelan (Tribal Literature Conference) at Ravindra Bhavan Margao on October 31. This is the first time in the socio-cultural history of Goa that such a conference has been organised, stated Devidas Gaonkar, president, Tribal Research Centre Goa.
The conference will be attended by literates in the Tribal community, budding poets, journalists, artists and intellectuals. The day-long conference will be inaugurated by Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, in the presence of former minister Prakash Velip and director, Art and Culture, Sagun Velip.
The first session soon after the inauguration a seminar on 'Tribal Literature' will be conducted by Vincy Cardoso with Tulsidas Kankonkar (Marathi literature), Sunil Palkar (Konkani literature), Marcus Gonsalves (Romi literature and tiatr), Gautami Gaude (plays and literature in other languages) as the participants.
The second session will have a discussion under senior artist Kanta Gaude, vice-chairman, Kala Academy on 'The existence of tribal population and their culture'. Pandurang Gaude (Tribal vocation), Pobra Fernandes (Kunbi traditions), Devendra Tawadkar (Lokved) will submit their research papers in this session. Dr Uday Gaonkar will preside a poetry session with senior and budding poets from Goa will participate in various languages (Marathi, Hindi, Konkani and English). Magazine 'Maand' will be released on the occasion.
