With the aim of inculcating a genuine love for Mother Earth and motivating the younger generation of Catechism children, altar servers and parish youth to grow in communion with creation the St Thomas parish, Aldona, led by the Parish Priest Fr Tomas Lobo and assisted by the Asst Parish priest Fr Michael Fernandes, re-launched the Green Initiative with a meaningful prayer service based on the theme “Porsum Rovum-ya,Ekchar Thiraum-ya”.The Green Initiative project which was launched in the year 2019 came to a standstill during the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. The prayer service was followed by a talk by the Resource person Nelson Figueiredo who gave a demonstration on the composition of soil to be used and the method of sowing the seeds. Later the children present sowed the vegetable seeds in used paper cups. The Catechism children, altar servers the youth, supported by their parents and Catechists will be working in teams, while being engaged in the green venture of growing vegetables in the Church orchard.
