CM visits Damodar Sal, pays tributes to Swami Vivekananda

Chief  Minister Pramod Sawant Monday visited Damodar Sal, Margao where Swami Vivekananda stayed for a week during his historic visit to Goa in 1892 before embarking on his trip to Chicago, USA.

Sawant speaking on the occasion urged youths of Goa to inculcate values and teachings of Swami Vivekananda in their life so as to build peaceful and harmonious society around us. He expressed that, life of Swami Vivekananda is being always inspirational for youth at large.

The CM further stated that, he has been fortunate to visit the Damodar Sal wherein Swami Vivekananda stayed during his visit to Goa. He informed that Government will provide help to the owners of Damodar Sal towards conservation of the sacred place for future generations.

On the occasion, Sawant also informed that Government intends to set up a Swami Vivekananda Kendra at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to propagate values and ideology of Vivekananda in the younger generation.

State Government had decided to observe Youth Week to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda from January 12. Where in various activities have been conducted for the empowerment of youths of the State.  The Chief Minister's visit to Damodar Sal coincided with the Youth Week.

It was informed that, Vivekananda visited Goa and had  stayed at the house of Subrai Naik in Margao known as Damodar Sal in 1892. He  went to Rachol seminary to study the Christian religion. Vivekananda had studied Hinduism and Christianity in Goa.

Earlier Chief Minister was accorded floral welcome by the owner of Damodar Sal Pradeep Naik. CM also took darshan of Shree Dambab at Damodar Sal. Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao Damu Naik spoke on the occasion. Bhai Naik and others were present on the occasion, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.
