Governor Shreedharan Pillai on Friday distributed financial assistance to two homeless women from the Scheduled Tribe community of Canacona from the Discretionary Fund of the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Dona paula. Pillai had visited Canacona in the first week of April as a part of ‘Goa Sampurna Yatra’. During his visit the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly had requested the Governor to extend financial assistance to Kavina K Gaonkar and Pomu S Mirashi who were facing a difficult time due to lack of proper shelter. The Governor therefore provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1 lakh to each one of them. The cheques were handed over to the beneficiaries in the presence of the Speaker, Ramesh Tawadkar, Secretary to Governor R Mihir Vardhan and the BDO of Canacona Anil Naik at Raj Bhavan.
