Inter-religious meet focuses on dialogue for better humanity

On the occasion of the on-going novenas of St Francis Xavier, the Committee for the Apostolate of Inter-Religious Dialogue in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman organized an inter-religious meeting on November 25 at the Basilica of Bom Jesus Old Goa. The theme chosen for the occasion was: Dialogue, Fraternity, Unity, for a Better Humanity. Shaikh Irshad Mussa, a chartered accountant by profession, representing the Islamic community, quoted relevant versus from the Holy Quran and emphasized that we are all children of one God who has blessed us with uniqueness and enriched the world with diversity. Dr Sandeep Naik, a medical practitioner, speaking on behalf of the Hindus, focussed on Vedic wisdom that emphasizes the idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kuttumbhakam’ that calls on everyone to live on this planet as ‘One family’. Dr Oscar Bragança de Melo, an associate professor of Commerce, representing the Catholic community exhorted the audience that true practice of religion needs to highlight spirituality over religiosity.
