Zoning of chunks of land arbitrarily changed in Outline Development Plans (ODPs) with reference to the Regional Plan 2021, which is the base plan, will be reverted, Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Wednesday.

Rane said, several lands which are arbitrarily converted to orchard, open spaces, natural cover and no development zones will be reverted.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Rane said: "After going through several reports and scrutiny done by the committee which was submitted to the Board, and discussions held with several officials with regard to all the illegalities in the past, it has been brought to my notice that several properties of individuals which were settlement of 2021 Regional plan have been arbitrary without any application of mind, any authority or provisions of the Act," Rane said.

These have been reverted back to orchard, open spaces, natural cover, no development zones in the Regional Plan 2021, which was the base plan.

The TCP Minister also said that various complaints have been received where people have described how they were being forced to sell their land.

"There are complaints of threats that if they don’t sell their properties, their properties would be in ODPs converted to orchards, open spaces and other zones," Rane said, adding that he will ensure such illegalities are reversed.
