Curfew extended; restaurants, bars to remain open till 11 pm

Goa government on Sunday extended the State-level curfew by another week till 7 am of August 9 to control the spread of Covid-19.  Last Sunday, the government had extended the curfew till 7am on August 2 with one additional relaxation -- permitting schools to conduct exams.  

Meanwhile, bars and restaurants in the State are permitted to remain open till 11 pm from Monday as per the latest order issued by government after extending the State-level curfew. 

According to the order, bars and restaurants are allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity from 7 am to 11 pm. The order also states that RTPCR is compulsory for persons coming into the State from Kerala while others will have to carry negative test report of any type for a test done a maximum 72 hours prior to entering Goa. 

Indoor gyms will continue to operate with 50 per cent capacity. Casinos, community halls, river cruises, spa, massage parlours, cinema halls, weekly markets, theatres and schools and colleges for students will continue to remain shut.

The State, meanwhile recorded one Covid death in the last 24 hours with a 70-year-old man from Margao succumbing to the virus at GMC. 

The Covid mortality count of Goa now stands at 3148. Goa recorded a positivity rate of 1.9 % with 59 of the 3534 samples testing positive for Covid. With 105 recoveries, the active Covid count of the State is at 1011.
