Union Minister of State for Tourism, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik on Friday said many proposals regarding tourism in Goa would be sanctioned by the Centre and added that the union shipping ministry would assist Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) to resume the container feeder service, which was recently stopped after 30 years of service.

Naik was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the "Pier" Seaside Bistro and Restaurant at the International Cruise terminal in the presence of MPT Chairman Rajiv Jalota and other officials.

"Many proposals from Goa pertaining to tourism have been placed before the Centre and there are chances that many more proposals can be put forth for consideration through various tourism schemes.”

“The State government will request the Centre to assist in infrastructure required for tourism activities in Goa. Some proposals and schemes which were put forth and were awaiting sanction on account of a review have now been completed and most proposals may soon be approved," said Naik.

The union minister also said efforts would be made to improve the financial position of MPT.
