Drishti Marine’s lifesaving teams rescued eleven individuals from various Indian states from drowning incidents along Goa’s coastline over the weekend. The lifesavers carried out four double rescues and three single rescues, in addition to tracing a missing child at Arambol beach in North Goa.
At Baga beach, a 21-year-old man from Tamil Nadu was swept away by a rip current while swimming. Lifesaver Subham Paik swiftly entered the water and brought the victim safely to shore.
At Calangute beach, a 42-year-old tourist from Karnataka was caught in a rip current. Lifesavers Vinod Gaonkar, using a rescue board, and Subham Mukhiya, with a rescue tube, promptly intervened and successfully rescued the man.
At Candolim beach, two men aged 19 and 20, both from Hubli, ventured too deep into the sea and were pulled by a rip current. Responding quickly, Saifhul Baidya used a rescue board to bring both victims safely back to shore.
At Morjim beach, two middle-aged male tourists from Haryana and Bihar were trapped in a rip current while swimming. Lifesaver Vinod Salelkar immediately responded and rescued both men using a rescue board.
At Arambol beach, an 11-year-old boy from Pune was reported missing. Lifesavers stationed at the beach launched a prompt search operation, and Chetan Bandekar located the child a short distance away. The boy was safely reunited with his father in the presence of police personnel and a beach warden.
At Agonda beach, two swimmers—a 37-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, both from Bengaluru—were caught in a lateral rip current. Lifesavers Satyavan and Ratnakar Velip responded immediately and brought both individuals safely back to shore.
At Dudhsagar waterfalls, two men from Andhra Pradesh, aged 21 and 24, were rescued after one of them, not wearing a life jacket, began panicking in the water. His friend jumped in to help but both started drowning. Lifesavers Niraj and Sagar used a rescue tube and throw bag to bring them safely to shore.
In another incident at the same location, a 44-year-old tourist from Gujarat sustained a knee injury. Lifesavers Niraj and Maruti administered first aid on-site, immobilized the victim using a spine board, and assisted his family in ensuring further medical care.
