Ricardo D’Souza, co-owner of the iconic club Tito’s, has decided to contest the upcoming polls from Calangute constituency.

Following former Calangute MLA Michael Lobo’s resignation from the BJP, D’Souza will seek the BJP party ticket and if denied to him, plans to contest as an independent candidate.

“I am contesting 100 per cent,” said D’Souza, while speaking to reporters.

“I will take up the burning issues of local taxi drivers and problem of properties being grabbed by outsiders.”

He has promised one apartment for each family in his constituency, adding that builders would be made to pay for these apartments.

D’Souza had initially said he would not contest assembly elections, but recently changed his mind after Lobo left the BJP and joined the Congress, prompting a number of Congress leaders in Calangute to leave the party and join the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
