Tejal Pagi’s ZP poll campaign launched in Khola

CANACONA
Goa BJP president Damu Naik officially launched the poll campaign of Khola ZP candidate Tejal Pagi by breaking a coconut at a Devasthan in Saleri, Khola. Speaking to the people, Naik urged them not to take the BJP government’s ‘Mhaje Ghar’ housing scheme lightly. He said every household must fill the forms and get their houses legalised.
Naik said the BJP has announced candidates in 40 of the 50 zilla parishad constituencies in the State in one go. Of the remaining seats, three have been given to the MGP and seven to Independents who have the BJP’s support.
He said after Tejal Pagi’s name was announced, he received many calls saying she was the right choice and would win easily. However, he warned party workers not to be overconfident. He said the party should aim to win the Khola seat with a bigger margin than the previous ZP member Shanu Velip, who had won by 3,200 votes.
Naik said the government led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant wants to legalise houses for the benefit of the people.
He asked party workers not to believe Congress leaders who, he claimed, were misleading people about the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme. He appealed to people to fill the forms available at the panchayat and get their houses legalised.
Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kala Academy chairman and BJP vice-president Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar said the BJP has fielded a simple and grounded candidate and urged people to vote for Tejal Pagi.
BJP general secretary Sarvanand Bhagat, BJP south district president Prabhakar Gaonkar, ZP member Shanu Velip, Khola sarpanch Pradnya Kamat, CMC chairperson Laxuman Pagui, Quepem BJP mandal president Krupesh Velip, Khola panch Pandhari Prabhudesai, Ajay Pagi, Priyanka Gaonkar, former ZP member and sarpanch Krishna Velip, along with party workers from Betul-Naqueri, Agonda, Shristhal and Khola panchayats, were present in large numbers.
