PANAJI
“The Institute of Company Secretaries in India (ICSI) has contributed immensely in the growth and development of the companies in India. ICSI has been working tirelessly to groom the company secretaries,” said Industrialist Auduth Timblo, chairman of the Fomento Group of Companies.

Lauding ICSI’s contribution to nation building, Timblo highlighted the various aspects of the institute. He was addressing the two-day conference organised by ICSI at Hotel Fidalgo in Panaji, as a chief guest.

Timblo shared the dais with ICSI chairman Nagendra Rao, WIRC chairman Pawan Chandhak and ICSI Goa chapter chairman Abhijit Rane. Nagendra Rao felicitated Timblo with a shawl and memento.

Speaking on this occasion, Timblo elaborated that one has to face multiple challenges while running a company but these challenges have to be met successfully. “The company secretary and the board of directors have to work together. There should be no pressure of working or making wrong decisions. The focus should be on all that is truthful, and in the well-being of the company, and priority should be given to fulfill that goal,” said Timblo.

“ICSI is in the making of good company secretaries and that’s why it has gained name and fame in India and abroad. The training that is received here is excellent and at par with any international institute,” said Timblo.

Stating that ICSI has offices in other States too, the ICSI chairman Nagendra Rao mentioned that ICSI will have the national convention on October 4, in the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“On December 18, ICSI will hold its corporate world function in Mumbai, where the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will grace as chief guest,” said Rao.

Goa’s global image
PANAJI: Industrialist and Chairman of Fomento Group of Companies, Auduth Timblo said, “One can learn a lot from history. Goa was one of the first places in Asia, where western laws and judiciary came. The ancient high court building still stands as a witness to this. It was 250 years ago that a high court was built in. Goa, being the first judicial building in India. It is still in working condition, and the sales tax office runs from there. Goa is also benefited by this globalisation, if we go back another 400 years in the past. Goa was considered the star of the media in those days. The first printing press in Asia was installed here. That machine is still in the museum today. So, we were accidently and immensely benefited by this globalisation process.”
