IFFI sees voters’ awareness drive

The District Election Officer as a part of an initiative Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Programme (SVEEP) Goa has set up a voters’ kiosk in the Inox Courtyard at the 52nd International Film Festival of India to spread the awareness about the system of EVMs and VVPAT machines used during the elections.   

People having issues related to voting cards, functioning of the machines and other queries visited the kiosk. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi, Neerja Sekhar, Marathi actor Sayaji Shinde and other dignitaries visited the kiosk and saw for themselves the various facilitation services undertaken for the benefit of the common person.   

The top dignitaries and actors were to visit the kiosks on the closing ceremony day. SVEEP, is the flagship program of the ECI for voter education spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009 Election Commission of India is working towards preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.
