MARGAO: The Crime Branch investigations into the Swapnil Walke murder case has revealed that the knife used in stabbing the victim was stolen by the accused from an uninhabited bungalow located at Agassaim.
The accused also told the Crime Branch sleuths that they had test fired the pistol under the Rawanfond bridge moments after they alighted at the Margao railway station, back from Bihar from where they procured the weapon.
Investigations have revealed that the accused had got the knife from a closed bungalow at Agassaim some days ago. The probing sleuths said the accused used to allegedly target uninhabited bungalows in Tiswadi taluka with the inmates settled in the UK and abroad.
“The investigating agency is looking into the burglaries committed by the accused, including the recent burglary at Dona Paula, where they decamped with the Bolero jeep, which was used to commit the failed robbery”, a Crime Branch officer informed.
The CB officer pointed out that though the accused could not lay their hands on gold or other booty from the closed bungalows and apartments, they used to feast on the foreign and Indian liqour stocked in these closed houses.
Meanwhile, a senior CB official informed that no sooner the accused returned back from Bihar with the pistol, they allegedly tested the pistol just meters away from the Margao railway station, under the Rawanfond bridge.
While the accused tested by firing a bullet, another bullet is believed to have misfired during the testing.
It may be recalled that the police has recovered a pistol along with three live cartridges, an empty cartridge from the Krishi Walke jeweller shop on the day of the cold blooded murder.
The police has already recovered the knife used to stab the deceased, which was abandoned in the bushes of Alto Monte after the accused made good their escape.
