Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has said that the Ring Road project from Colva Circle will not touch the Margao flyover. He made this remark in reference to the huge task of rehabilitation of inhabitants residing near Cine Lata in the commercial capital of the State.

Digambar, however, said the inhabitants of the 15 houses, whose structures were razed down near the Comba subway to make way for the Ring Road project, will be rehabilitated on the acquired land admeasuring 7000 square meters. He said the PWD will construct the houses for the 15 land losers on the acquired land.

“The Margao Ring Road project right from Colva Circle to La Flor Hotel is complete. Similarly, the project is complete from Victor Hospital to Power House, Aquem. Ring Road could not be linked to the Margao flyover as it involves rehabilitation of occupants near Cine Lata”, he told the media on Wednesday, after announcing plans to hot-mix the entire stretch of the Ring Road from Colva Circle to the Power House at an estimated cost of Rs 3.40 crore.

He added: “This road was craving for attention since it was excavated by the PWD to lay underground sewerage line. The work planned on the road is a major one and will give relief to the motorists using the Ring Road”.

To a question, the Margao MLA said he would soon come out with a report card on the number of works he took up in the constituency in the last five years. “During the current term, a number of works were taken up in the city, including electrification and illumination. House connections have been issued 80 per cent in some of the wards, while in other wards it is almost 100 per cent”, he added.
