State’s unused school bldgs and lands to be leased out

AROUND 50-60 SUCH BUILDINGS CAN BE RENTED OUT FOR NOMINAL FEE, SAYS CM

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant disclosed that the cabinet has decided to hand over unused school buildings and land to non-profit institutions and social groups for a nominal rent.

Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, Sawant said, “The government will hand over school lands and buildings to non-profit making institutions in the State and will charge a small fee.”

He added that school buildings, which have anganwadis, will be handed over to the state Directorate of Women and Child Welfare to run these rural child care centres.

Sawant said approximately 50 to 60 such government schools could be easily rented out.

GRIHA AADHAR BACKLOG: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, pending Griha Aadhar social security scheme benefit payments will be cleared by August.

Payments to beneficiaries under the scheme are pending for the last four months. Sawant assured that it will all be resolved.

“By July end, one month’s stipend will be dispersed,” he said, adding that in July and August, benefits of two months will be disbursed, thus resolving the issues and clearing the backlog.

SEZ LAND E-AUCTION: Meanwhile, in other cabinet decisions, approval was granted to a proposal for setting up a committee to supervise the e-auction process of the massive tracts of land got back from SEZ promoters land at Verna.

37 POSTS FOR PERNEN HOSP: The State cabinet approved the proposal to create 37 posts to man the upgraded hospital at Pernem.
