A group of citizens have requested Mapusa Police not to allow Popular Front of India (PFI) to hold public meetings in the State.

The citizens under the banner of Swarajya Gomantak have written to Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar urging him to stop public get together programme of PFI to be held in the State.

“We came across a post on social media by the Popular Front of India planning to hold public meetings and rallies in Goa. The PFI is under government radar for anti-national activities and their links with ISIS. We request the police to stop PFI from holding meetings in the State,” said Swarajya Gomantak, in a statement signed by Prashant Walke, Jayesh Thali, Chandrakant Pandit and others.

They said in the past, the organisation was found involved in promoting enmity between different groups and creating law and order problems.

Swarajya Gomantak further said just two days back, PFI members were arrested with explosive devices in UP with a plan to execute blasts across the State.
