Around 20 UK travellers who were quarantined at the ESI hospital, Margao for the last 14 days have been discharged after their latest swab test reports from the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim have come negative.

With the discharge of the 20 travellers, ESI hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai said around 10 travellers are presently quarantined in the hospital as on Thursday.

The ESI hospital had on Wednesday collected the swabs of 19 travellers and sent to the GMC microbiology department for tests after they had all completed 14 days quarantine. Of these 19 test reports, the reports of 17 travellers have come negative, while the authorities will conduct the test of the remaining two travellers as the report was not conclusive.

Dr Faldesai informed that the remaining 10 travellers, will have to undergo quarantine in the ESI hospital as per the MHA’s SOP in place. “Amongst these 10 travellers are some who have arrived just a few days back. They have not completed the 14 days quarantine and neither their test reports have come from the National Institute of Virology, Pune,” he said, adding that these 10 travellers will have to wait till their reports come from Pune.
