A Women’s Conference, ‘Mahilancha Utsavi Jagar was held successfully on the Republic Day by Shiksha Vision at Hirabai Zantye Memorial Hall at Bicholim wherein enthusiastic women from across Goa participated in large numbers. There were various competitions and other spot activities that kept the women engaged throughout the afternoon.

Addressing the conference, Reva Naik, deputy collector, Revenue department lauded the efforts of today’s women who are marching successfully towards being financially independent, and thus contributing towards making the country an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. “Todays’ women are eager to be self-dependent and they are contributing towards making the country ‘Atmanirbhar’ in their own way, be they home-makers or working women,” stated Reva Naik while distributing prices to the winners of different competitions held during the event. Naik also appreciated Shiksha Vision’s effort to organise a gathering for women and make their participated in various competitions.

Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Dr Dinesh Amonkar, Shubha Dixit, Dilip Dhargalkar and others from the organising committee were present on the dais and expressed their opinions and views.

The conference was inaugurated at the hands of Karuna Satardekar, assistant professor at G V M College.

There were multiple contests organised during the event including Mehendi, Paakkala, Rangoli, Keshrachana, Ukhane, Fati and garland making etc and other sports activities. Women participated in these contests in large numbers.

Bhagirathi Parwar (bamboo art), Varsha Dhupkar (theatre artist), Tanuja Nevgi, Deepa Jambhale, Maya Pandit, Siddhanti Parab, Madhuri Parab, Ujjwala Kajari, Sheetal Parab, Shama Gawde, Rajani Mandrekar, Sayali Gadre, Sulaksha Pal, Laxmi Pal, Taramati Kudaskar, Suman Pednekar, Rashmi Dalvi Sulaksha Govekar, Jani Mandrekar, Sarita Harmalkar, Veena Patil, Krupa Naik, Sneha Khot, Suvarna Devari, Chandravati Naik, Sulaksha Verekar, Nita Naik were felicitated for their achievements in various fields and arts, at the hands of Karuna Satardekar and Rava Naik.

In his welcome address, Dr Chandrakant Shetye stated that the women is the real sculptor of the family, and she crafts the family together very beautifully. “We organised these contests to allow her some ‘me time’ and express the art in her,” said Dr Shetye. The programme was compared by Dilip Dhargalkar.
