Nine persons were injured when a private minibus with about 35 passengers from Goa overturned in Khanapur taluka in the wee hours of Monday.
According to reports, the private minibus was heading to Bailur in Khanapur taluka carrying 35 people for a wedding party when the bus overturned near Olamani village at 4.30 am on Monday.
While other passengers escaped with minor injuries, 9 persons were admitted to the local hospital and their condition was out of danger, police said.
Police said the bus driver lost control while over speeding, causing the accident.
The bus sustained extensive damages in the mishap.
“Looking at the magnitude of the damage, one must say that the passengers had a miraculous escape,” said Khanapur PI Suresh Shinge, who rushed to the site.
The injured persons were later taken back to Goa.
