Alleging that persons indicted in a Goa Dairy scam are contesting the elections of board of Directors of Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Goa Dairy), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded that such persons should be barred from contesting elections.

The party has even demanded to halt the election for the time being and appoint an administrator until the investigation is complete.

"Goa dairy at present is in loss of around Rs 55 to 60 crore. Those people who are responsible for the loss of the dairy are contesting elections," said Rajdeep Naik, spokesperson of AAP Goa.

Naik said that on a complaint of one Ramesh Naik of alleged corruption of Rs 6 crore in Goa Dairy the then assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies Rajesh Parwar had conducted an inquiry and found that the allegations are true.

Now some of those who are contesting elections are those who were involved in the corruption, said Naik.

Government inquiry itself has found the persons involved in the scam and now we are giving the dairy in their hands. Many people  who are contesting are not doing dairy farming at present, pointed out Rajdeep Naik.

"I request on behalf of the party to appoint an administrator or give the dairy in the hands of earlier officers who have worked with sincerity," he said.

The procedure for filing nominations has started for the 12-member Board of Directors. Meanwhile 43 candidates have filed nominations for Goa Board of Directors elections which are scheduled for June 19.
