Goa Congress leader Girish Chodankar on Wednesday accused the BJP government of attempting to silence the dissent voiced by the Opposition in the Assembly against the government’s anti-people policies.

“The BJP with all its monumental blunders in governance has no moral right to call the act of the Opposition to show placards during the shortcut address of the Governor as a mistake in the Goa Legislative Assembly,” stated Chodankar.

Chodankar was reacting to the statement made by BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade blaming the opposition MLAs for showing banners during the speech of the Governor in Goa Legislative Assembly.

“The BJP has demolished all the democratic institutions in the country. People of Goa are watching the proceedings of the House. The act of the BJP government to tactfully divert attention from core issues is being observed closely. BJP should remember that people’s power has always emerged supreme in a democracy,” Chodankar warned.

He called upon the Goa Government to show courage and to face the issues raised by the Opposition.
