BJP will storm to power in 2022 assembly polls: Party president

MAPUSA
The State BJP President, Sadanand Tanavade on Saturday said the BJP will storm to power in the 2022 assembly elections with the help of the BJP cadre and support of the people of Goa.

“An election is the objective of any political party. With the support of the people and hard work of the party workers, BJP will win with an absolute majority in 2022 under the leadership of Pramod Sawant,” Tanavade said.

The BJP President was addressing a news conference at the end of the day’s State BJP executive meeting held in the party office. This is the BJP’s first executive committee meeting under the leadership of Tanavade.

Continuing, Tanavade said despite testing positive for Covid-19 and remaining home quarantined for 17 days, the chief minister continued working from home. “Those who criticise without stepping out of their homes will be reduced to single digits in the coming elections,” he said.

Adopting a political resolution at the meet, the BJP said that the State government under the leadership of CM, Pramod Sawant was taking huge strides toward growth and progress with a strong support of the government at the Centre.

“The government is working with an aim to reach out to the last person in the line. From ensuring quality infrastructure for tourism enhancement to touching lives of all sections of the society through social welfare schemes and from focus on providing quality education to attracting investments in the State, there is sincere effort put in to make Goa – “Bhaangralem Goem” (a golden Goa),” the party resolution said.

On Covid-19 management in the State, the party said that despite the rising trend of positive cases in the State, Goa has ensured maximum detection rate per million in comparison to the national average.

“The pandemic has not deterred our government from its conviction to deliver people-centric governance, successful conduct of the janata-curfew, providing food/medication/shelter to the labour force hailing from other parts of the country,” Tanavade said.

He further said the State government has also ensured that the students appearing in the milestone examinations are given relief and went ahead and conducted SSC examinations despite opposition from vested interests.

The party resolution also hailed the induction of 1185 youth into the PWD Labour Supply Society as a landmark decision of the government.

The BJP also stressed that Goa needed investment in non-polluting but employment generating sectors and the government was focusing on the education sector to achieve that goal. “With the passing of the Private University Act in the Goa Assembly, Goa has set itself on the path to become an education hub,” the BJP President said.

The party resolution has also said that the governments at the Centre and the State were committed to upliftment of farmers and providing maximum benefits to them.

BJP executive labels Congress, others as anti-people

MAPUSA: Labeling the Congress and other Opposition parties as “anti-people” and working “against national interest”, the State BJP executive meeting on Saturday said that the Opposition was busy spreading baseless allegations and falsehood to portray BJP in bad light.

“The opposition outcry during the anti-CAA protests, anti-development agenda, opposition to PM Cares Fund have left them red-faced. The tendency to oppose everything for the sake of it is a disturbing trend and is against the nation’s interest. This State executive condemns the Congress and its machinations against the BJP government,” the resolution read.
