Development impossible if one isn’t in govt: Ajgaonkar

PERNEM
Admitting that development cannot take place if one is not in the government, Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar on Tuesday said though he had switched different parties he would now remain with the BJP.

Addressing a public meeting at Nagzar-Pernem to promote BJP’s candidates for ZP polls, Ajgaonkar appealed to people to stay away from new candidates with little experience who pop up during elections.

“I entered in this constituency in 1999 and keeping in mind that development cannot happen if one is not in the government. I was with the Congress, BJP and MGP, but henceforth, I will remain only with the BJP,” assured Ajgaonkar.

He assured to give preference to locals for projects coming up in Pernem constituency.

BJP Block President Tulshidas Gawas said Ajgaonkar had changed political parties only for the betterment and development of Pernem and also appealed to people to ensure the victory of both BJP candidates at the ZP polls.

BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade assured that Ajgaonkar would be re-elected in 2022 and would remain as deputy chief minister.

Commenting on the anti-coal protests in the State, Tanavade accused the Congress of bringing coal into the State even before the BJP.

“Ask the Congress leaders what have they done in their constituencies when they come to you for votes,” Tanavade added.

Others who either spoke or were present at the meeting included Nagesh Gosavi, Santosh Malik, Usha Nagvekar, Sima Khadpe, Dr Vasudev Deshprabhu, Manohar Dhargalkar and sarpanch Santosh Malik.
