Stepping up their pressure, a group of locals in Honda issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the State government to suspend Valpoi Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar, failing which they have threatened to block the main Honda-Valpoi road on Monday morning.

The locals have been demanding action against PI Ekoskar, after accusing him of having assaulted two locals, former Honda sarpanch and sitting panch Suresh Madkar and Sagar Naik, in the Honda police outpost on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, local panch Shivadas Madkar, who has been leading the agitation, said PI Ekoskar should be suspended for his action against Suresh Madkar and Sagar Naik.

“We have issued a 48-hour ultimatum for action against PI Ekoskar, which will expire on Friday 8 pm. We have conveyed our decision to the police department and we will hope the State government will look seriously into this matter,” he said.
