Four days into their agitation and with no sign of their rehabilitation, the GMC kiosk owners are planning to go on a chain hunger strike after eight days.

Though a final decision has not been taken yet, one of the kiosk owners informed that since nothing has happened thus far, a suggestion has been made of chain hunger strike after eight days.

“All kiosk owners will take turns to sit on the chain hunger strike if nothing happens even after eight days,” the kiosk owner stated.

Meanwhile, Goa Forward Joint Secretary John Nazareth and Curca Panch Gautam Naik made separate visits to the agitating kiosk owners on Thursday.

“I have come here on personal capacity to show solidarity to the protesting kiosk owners. There are many hotels operating illegally along the beachside but no action is taken against them. Action is only taken on poor people,” Nazareth said.

On Monday, GMC kiosk owners and fruit vendors, who had not been rehabilitated as yet, staged a peaceful protest outside the residence of St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, to denounce the delay in their rehabilitation despite assurances given to them.
