Shortly after former Navelim MLA and veteran Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro resigned as Congress MLA and said he would join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), former Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar said he too would be joining the TMC.

The former MGP leader, who was humiliated and later expelled from the MGP, was in touch with the TMC leaders in West Bengal.

"I have been in discussion with TMC leaders since the first week of September. I will be flying to Kolkata on Tuesday and will formally join the TMC,” said Mamledar.

Lavoo said Faleiro has taken a timely and prompt decision to join the TMC.

"I congratulate Faleiro for taking the right decision and at the right time. The Congress was not doing well since 2017,” he said.

“My political experience gives me the impression that the TMC is here to win in Goa as political strategist Prashant Kishor is meticulously planning election strategy,” said Mamledar, a former police official turned politician.

He said that the TMC is strategically planning and taking in winnable candidates in the party.

An MGP MLA from 2012 to 2017, Mamledar said he has had an understanding with Ponda Congress MLA Ravi Naik.

“I have opted to contest elections on the TMC ticket from Marcaim constituency instead of Ponda constituency,” said Mamledar.
