The eight-year struggle of Mandrem College of Commerce and Management finally ended as the State government compiled with the High Court order of releasing grants to the college.

Expressing happiness over the release of grants, former union minister Ramakant Khalap who is also the chairman of the college thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

“Happy to announce that the eight-year-old struggle of Mandrem College for survival has ended. The government has finally adhered to High Court directions to release grants. Thank you CM", said Khalap.

Khalap also thanked those who extended support for all these years. “Thank you teachers who had to bear the brunt without salaries for 8 years. Thank you parents also for reposing faith in the institution”, Khalap said.

During the tenure of Laxmikant Parsekar and Manohar Parrikar as Chief Ministers, the grants of the college were not released which the management challenged in court.

The grants were stopped by the government in 2013 on grounds that a college already existed nearby and quality of education would suffer if grants were given to this college.
