Mapusa mourns sudden demise   of social worker Korgaonkar

Mapusa was plunged into grief on Sunday morning following the sudden and untimely demise of Amey Korgaonkar, a well-known social worker and respected figure in the town.

He was 41 years old.

A resident of Khorlim, Mapusa, Korgaonkar was serving as the Vice President of the Bodgeshwar Devasthan Committee.

He was also the husband of Anvi Korgaonkar, a councillor of the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC).

Known for his warm personality and willingness to help others, Korgaonkar was deeply involved in various social and community initiatives in Mapusa and had been politically active for several years.

His sudden passing, reportedly due to a massive heart attack in the early hours of Sunday, came as a shock to friends, colleagues and the wider community.

Korgaonkar was cremated on Sunday evening in the presence of family members, friends and well-wishers.

Several political leaders, civic officials and members of the Devasthan Committee attended the funeral to pay their respects.

Among those who visited to offer condolences and pay homage were Union Minister and North Goa MP Shripad Naik, along with other local leaders from Mapusa and surrounding areas.

Residents remembered him as a dedicated community worker, always at the forefront of social causes and public welfare activities in Mapusa.

His demise has left a deep void in the town’s civic and social life.
