Pawar to meet party workers: NCP State prez

VASCO
NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar on Wednesday arrived on a private visit in the State and is expected to interact with party workers on the forthcoming elections.

Speaking to reporters, NCP State President Jose Philip D’Souza said Pawar was on a private visit, but would visit the NCP’s office in Panaji office and interact with party workers and the executive committee.

“Pawar will make a short visit to the Karwar naval base and on his return, will convene the meeting. This is our party’s new office in Panaji and it is his first visit to the new office. We will brief Pawar in detail on the present political situation in Goa and we will put forth our plans on how we will participate in the forthcoming elections.”

“We have only one year for the assembly elections and we will discuss whether we should have an alliance or not. If we have an alliance, then we will discuss if we should immediately announce the idea of an alliance to the public," said D’Souza.

The NCP state president felt that alliances never materialise if and when they are discussed at the last moment and few months prior to elections.

“Hence, such issues should be discussed well in advance and I have told the party leaders about my point of view as well. I believe key decisions should be discussed and finalised well in advance so that people are also aware of these decisions.”

“If like-minded parties want to form an alliance, it is important to discuss and finalise them now. During this visit, Pawar will not meet other party leaders or opposition leaders," said D’Souza.

D’Souza said a lot of prominent politicians were trying to join the NCP and he had informed this to Pawar.

"Some politicians have met me and even approached Pawar and the party’s high command will take a final call on whether or not to induct these prominent politicians,” said D’Souza.
