A 42-year-old man from Latambarcem-Bicholim died in a road mishap at Latambarcem on Friday evening.
According to reports, the mishap took place at about 6 pm near Celebration Restaurant at Nanoda-Latambarcem when Manjunath Nayar (30) of Querim-Sattari drove a tipper truck from Dodamarg towards Assonora in a rash and negligent manner.
When the accused reached near Celebration Restaurant at Nanoda, the truck struck an oncoming scooter, proceeding from Assonora towards Dodamarg.
With the impact, the scooter rider Prashant Kerkar fell on the road along with his scooter and sustained grievous head injuries.
The injured person was shifted to the Bicholim Community Health Centre for medical treatment but succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
Police arrested the truck driver in this connection in the wee hours of Saturday.
The body was sent to the GMC hospital for an autopsy and was later handed over to the family for final rites.
