Around a year after her 14-year-old son had ended his life, the 40-year-old mother also committed suicide in her flat at Upasngar-Sancoale on Monday evening.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 7.30 pm when Siddhi Vikas Naik (40) and her husband were in the flat.
"The woman had been depressed after her 14-year-old son had committed suicide in the same flat around a year ago and hence, she may have taken the extreme step,” said the source.
Verna police later carried out a panchanama and sent the body to Hospicio at Margao for an autopsy, before handing over the body to the family for final rites on Tuesday.
Verna police is conducting further investigation.
