No lights on busy Siolim road puts lives at risk

The road widening work from Old Theatre junction (Tarchibhat) to Laxmi Narayan temple at Bamnon Vaddo has been completed, but no new street-light poles have been erected. The divider has been fixed, but the Electricity Department, which removed the old poles, has not made any alternative arrangement for lighting on this busy MDR-10 stretch at Siolim.

There is heavy traffic on this road, and stray cattle and dogs are often seen sitting along the stretch. This creates a serious risk of accidents at night due to poor visibility. The authorities must urgently take up the erection of new street-light poles. There should be proper planning so that essential lighting is restored without long delays after such works.
