Reporting instances of abuse and cruelty by persons in charge at child care institutions is not easy. Most of the time victims are unable to complain, such crimes are reported to the police either by parents or Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Those children whose parents are labourers are unaware of how to or are not too inclined to report crimes to the police.With the 2021 amendment to the Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act, these crimes have been made non-cognizable along with several other serious crimes. In such a situation reporting such crimes to police has become even more difficult.
