Finally, CM assures to reward turncoats, but when?

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | NOVEMBER 19, 2022, 11:46 PM IST

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s announcement that the Congress turncoats will soon receive their rewards may come as a welcome reassurance to the defectors. For, this is perhaps the first time that defectors have been kept waiting for the promised rewards, including Ministerial berths and Corporations for two-long months. In the last term, CM Pramodbab had to face all round flak for the midnight swearing-in ceremonies, indicating the haste with which the saffron brigade had rewarded the neo-saffronites for defection. Wait and watch whether the defectors will receive their due post-Gujarat polls or after the Karnataka elections.

Churchill adopts wait-and-watch approach over river Sal saga

Varca strongman Bab Churchill must be watching the drama unfolding over the river Sal from the sidelines. Not a single statement has come from the former Minister on the political turbulence over the river Sal. Sources said the seasoned campaigner is closely watching the unfolding drama. Churchillbab, however, seemed to have decided to adopt a wait-and-watch attitude for the moment. For, the seasoned campaigner must have realised that voices of dissent emanating from Benaulim countryside should suffice for the moment to corner his political rival. Any questions?

Why is Vijai shying away from opening office in Margao?

Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s outbursts at Diggu seemed to suggest that all is not well between the friends-turned-foes post-defection. Vijaibab seemed to have taken offence to Diggu’s statement that the latter had ushered projects in the commercial capital when Damubab was representing Fatorda. Political observers, however, wonder why the Goa Forward supremo is shying away from opening a party office in Margao. Indeed, questions are raised about why Vijaibab is going slow to set up shop in Margao. Any takers?

All eyes on Cong future plan in Curtorim

It was a week when Team Congress led by GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar descended in Curtorim, long considered the Congress bastion, but is now represented by Independent MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco. Amitbab’s first task in Curtorim is to put the house in order before the party takes on the Independent MLA supporting the BJP-led government. In this respect, sources said the team has sought to take the feedback of party leaders from Curtorim. Wait and watch how Congress goes about the plan in the constituency.

Cong treads cautious path on Nuvem, Margao block chiefs

As Congress goes about restructuring the blocks in the State, the list of newly-elected block chiefs did not find mention of the Margao and Nuvem blocks, the constituencies represented by Congress turncoats, Diggu and Aleixobab Sequeira respectively. When Diggu had embraced the saffron brigade, Margao block president Gopalbab Naik had quit the Congress before he and others joined the BJP. In Nuvem, however, block president Manuel D’Costa did not follow Aleixobab in the BJP, but stayed put with the Congress. The Congress seemed indeed treading a cautious path.
