State Congress leadership is bracing up for Mission Delhi

Guilherme Almeida | MAY 06, 2023, 08:31 PM IST

With elections for the Karnataka State Assembly less than four days away, the State Congress leadership is bracing up for Mission Delhi. If sources are to be believed, GPCC Chief Amitbab Patkar and Opposition leader Yuribab Alemao are believed to have sought appointment with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss party affairs. It is learnt that the Amit-Yuri duo reportedly met  a couple of days ago and discussed issues plaguing the party. The duo is planning a trip to Delhi no sooner Kharge returns to the national capital after the election campaign in his home state Karnataka. Wait and watch.

Checkmate challenge for

Cong South Goa LS ticket

The race for the Congress ticket for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat is expected to intensify in the run up to the 2024 polls. Ex-GPCC Chief Girishbab Chodankar and bureaucrat-turned-politician Elvisbab Gomes are not the only leaders along with Capt Viriato to vie for the party ticket and challenge sitting MP Francisbab Sardinha for the ticket. If sources are to be believed, a section of the party are now not averse in propping up GPCC Chief Amitbab Patkar for the ticket. It could not be ascertained whether Amitbab is a serious contender or his name is being proposed to checkmate others in the race. Wait and watch.

Warren planning to make his

political debut via football?

For the moment, Varca strongman Bab Churchill’s nephew Warren seemed playing a different ball game. At a time when questions are being raised whether he would throw his hat in the Benaulim election ring when uncle Churchill has batted for Son Savio in the constituency, Warren seemed totally engrossed in promoting football in the constituency. Budding footballers sporting jerseys with Warren’s name are participating in an ongoing football camp in Benaulim, throwing up a question whether Warren is planning to make his political debut via football. Wait and watch.

South Goa Lok Sabha drums

beat loudly for Girish, Elvis

Congress leaders, ex-GPCC president Girishbab Chodankar and bureaucratic-turned-politician Elvisbab Gomes seemed to have come under the scanner of political observers. Not only was the duo part of the Congress delegation that confronted Forest officials over the Canacona tree cutting episode, they have been seen repeatedly voicing their views and opinions in the political scheme of things. The two leaders, sources said, are being perceived to be belonging to the camp opposed to the GPCC dispensation. And, it is a sheer coincidence the duo have set their eyes on the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. Any questions?

For Vijai, it was either feni

or message for Churchill

What message did Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai send out when he descended on Colva grounds on the last day of the Spirit of Goa festival. Well, after Vijiabab took Varca strongman Bab Churchill head on over the latter’s statement that the BJP would win both the Lok Sabha polls, Vijaibab, sources said, headed to the Colva grounds for the Spirit of Goa festival later in the evening. It isn’t clear Vijaibab came for the festival since he has interests in cashew feni manufacturing or simply to send a message to Churchillbab, with whom he enjoys a love-hate relationship, over the years?

Camera, lights... what's going on

inside Hospicio building complex?

Hazard a guess how come vehicles, including a couple of buses with AP and TS registration are found parked on the old Hospicio hospital road? Well, Hospicio was in the news recently after the outer wall was taken up for painting by the Goa Forward Party, followed by a stern warning by Director of Health Services of strong action against those interfering with the Hospicio property. The weekend, however, not only saw outstation vehicles parked along the Hospicio road, but intense activity with cameras and lights could be noticed inside the complex. Will the health authorities shed light on the ongoing activity inside the heritage Hospicio building. Wait and watch.
